How to Delete or Remove Tags in Stageforce
Stageforce uses deactivation instead of deletion for most tags. This removes the item from active inventory while preserving its history for reporting.
Choose the correct option
- Deactivate Tag: Use when an item has been sold, donated, damaged, lost, stolen, or otherwise permanently removed from inventory. The tag number cannot be reused.
- Remove Association: Use when you only need to detach a tag from its current item. The tag number returns to the unassigned pool and can be assigned to another item.
- Delete Tag: This option is limited to Super Admin users and erases the tag’s history and reporting references. It is not recommended for normal inventory management.
Deactivate a tag
1. Open the main menu and select Tag Manager.
2. Enter the tag number in Search Tags.
3. Select the tag number to open its details.
4. Click Deactivate Tag.
5. Choose a Reason:
- Sold
- Donated
- Damaged
- Lost/Stolen
- Other
6. Confirm the Removed On date.
7. Complete any applicable optional fields:
- Sold Price
- Reference 1
- Reference 2
- Last Location
8. Click Deactivate.
9. Review the confirmation message and confirm the action.
The item will no longer count as active inventory. Its history will remain available under Inventory Dashboard → Reports → Deactivated Tag Report.
Important: A deactivated tag number cannot be reused.
Remove a tag association
Use this option when the item is staying in inventory, but its tag needs to be replaced or reassigned.
1. Open the inventory item.
2. Find the attached tag number.
3. Select the X beside the tag, labeled Remove Association.
4. Confirm that you want to remove the association.
The tag number will return to the unassigned pool in Tag Manager and can be assigned to another item.
Deactivate multiple tags from a warehouse
Super Admin users can deactivate product-associated tags in bulk when the items are grouped in the same non-primary warehouse.
1. Open Inventory Dashboard → Warehouses.
2. Select the warehouse containing the items.
3. Review the items carefully.
4. Click Deactivate Tags.
5. Choose the Reason and confirm the Removed On date.
6. Add reference details if needed.
7. Click Deactivate and confirm.
Unassociated tags are excluded from warehouse bulk deactivation. They must be reassigned, removed individually, or reviewed by Stageforce Support.
Delete an accidentally created tag
Use Delete Tag only when a tag number was created by mistake and has not been assigned to an inventory item.
1. Open the main menu and select Tag Manager.
2. Enter the tag number in Search Tags.
3. Select the tag number.
4. Confirm that Product Associated shows Unassociated.
5. Click Edit.
6. Click Delete Tag.
7. Confirm the deletion.
Deleting the tag removes it from Tag Manager and erases its history and reporting references.
