How to scan an item with a QR code using your phone

Use your phone or tablet’s camera in the Stageforce app to scan one tagged item at a time, without an RFID reader.

Before you begin
  • Open the Stageforce app on your phone or tablet and sign in.
  • Make sure the QR code is attached to the item.
  • Make sure the QR code’s tag number is assigned to that item in Stageforce.
  • If your device asks for permission to use the camera, choose Allow.
Scan the item
  1. In the Stageforce app, tap Scan.
  2. On the Scan Products screen, tap the camera icon.
  3. Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the item.
  4. Hold the phone steady and keep the entire QR code visible until Stageforce reads it.
  5. Confirm that the item appears in the scanned-products list.

Check the following details to make sure the correct item was scanned:

  • Product name
  • Product image
  • Tag number

To scan another item, tap the camera icon again. QR-code scanning adds one item at a time.

If the QR code will not scan
  • Clean the camera lens.
  • Make sure the QR code is well lit.
  • Move the phone slightly closer to or farther from the code until it comes into focus.
  • Keep the full QR code inside the camera view.
  • Avoid glare or shadows across the QR code.
  • Check your phone’s settings to confirm that Stageforce has camera permission.
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of the Stageforce app.
If you see “Unassigned Tags Scanned”
  • The scanned tag number is not currently assigned to an inventory item.
  • Assign the tag to the correct item in Stageforce.
  • Return to Scan Products and scan the QR code again.
Confirm the scan was successful

The scan is successful when:

  • The item appears in the scanned-products list.
  • The correct product name is displayed.
  • The correct tag number is displayed.
