What happens to the tag after using e-commerce to sell my inventory?

Stageforce eCommerce helps you offer project inventory for sale, collect payment through Stripe, and keep a record of the items sold. When a sale is completed, Stageforce automatically updates the furniture's tag so it is no longer treated as active, available inventory.

Before you start selling
  • Turn on eCommerce in your eCommerce settings.
  • Connect and complete your Stripe account setup. Stripe must enable both payment acceptance and payouts.
  • Configure taxes in Stripe. Your business is responsible for setting the correct tax origin, product tax codes, and registrations.
  • Review your store defaults, including currency, default commerce status, item condition, checkout terms, and seller contact information.
  • Add clear checkout terms. For example, explain whether used furniture is sold as-is and whether sales are final.
Setting up furniture for eCommerce
  • Open the furniture item in Inventory and select Edit Details, or configure commerce details while creating a new product.
  • In the Commerce section, choose Available for Sale when the item should be offered to buyers.
  • Choose the item's condition: New, Used – Like New, Used – Good, or Used – Fair.
  • Confirm the commerce product name and description. These can match the inventory product details or be customized for buyers.
  • Add useful photos and verify the sale price before making the item available.
  • If the furniture has multiple tagged pieces or is part of a set, review every piece before checkout so the correct tags are included.
What happens when the customer completes the purchase
  • Stageforce creates an order and records the furniture included in the completed checkout.
  • Each purchased tag is marked Sold.
  • The tag is automatically deactivated through eCommerce. You do not need to deactivate the sold tag manually.
  • If the tag has an active project selection, Stageforce closes or destages that selection as part of the sale.
  • The tag is removed from its current product association so it is no longer counted as active, available inventory.
  • The sold tag may no longer appear in normal active Inventory tag searches.
  • The tag is not deleted. Stageforce preserves its sold history, order connection, product identity, sale price, and other reporting details.

The short version:

After an eCommerce sale, the tag moves from active inventory to sold/deactivated history. The deactivation is expected. The tag remains connected to the completed order for historical and reporting purposes.

Why a product may or may not appear as untagged
  • A product appears untagged only when it has no active associated tags remaining.
  • If the product has another active tag, selling one tagged piece does not make the entire product untagged.
  • A sold tag can therefore be absent from active tag search while its product still appears tagged because another active piece remains.
  • Use the completed order or sold-item history when you need to review a sold tag. Do not rely only on the active Inventory search.
Recommended checks after a sale
  • Confirm that the completed order contains the correct furniture and tag numbers.
  • Verify that each purchased tag shows as sold or deactivated rather than available.
  • For sets, confirm that every piece included in the sale was processed.
  • Do not treat a sold tag as available inventory unless it is intentionally reactivated and reassigned through your inventory process.
  • If a sold tag appears missing, check sold or order history before creating a replacement tag.
